Welcome on my blog.
Here I will show the work I make as a concept art student. A big part of this blog will be dedicated to my school end project.

Another work in progress. We had to create a couple of fantasy creatures that have a certain relationship to eachother.
This is a first sketch and tone indicator.
The story behind it:
The bigger creature is going to be some kind of lizard who's skin cells are food to the glowing bugs. These bugs attract little creatures in the forest who serve as food for the lizard.
Intro to the school project
As a final test of my educational year at Syntra Hasselt as a concept artist we have to make a pitch book based on a story either written by the student or a story we got from our teacher. I have chosen to work on a story that is written by our teacher. Here is a synopsis of the story written by Wim Tilkin.
The story begins when a boy wakes up by the moonlight on his face and takes of to discover the world around him. First he notices a mechanical flower and when he picks it up the mechanical flower transforms into an organic flower. The boy starts smiling and runs over to a mechanical tree and touches it. The moment the boy touches the mechanical tree, it starts to transform into an organic tree and the boy's happiness increases. On his way he touches more mechanical plants, changing everything he touches. Happily jumping further he touches a mechanical rabbit, a butterfly, a horse ... .
Eventually the boy ends up at a big mechanical tower. On top of the tower stands a mirror, reflecting the moonlight. The boy touches the tower and a magical wave spreads over the tower from the point where the boy touched it. The big mechanical tower transforms into an old medieval looking tower. On top of the tower the mirror transforms, changing the moonlight into sunlight and the dark atmosphere makes room for a clear sky. The boy is happy when he looks at the tower and he notices the ray of sunlight being reflected by the mirror. He follows the sunlight to the spot where it falls upon a mechanical girl. The boy looks around him, closes his eyes and kisses the girl.
The moment the boy kisses the girl, she changes into a real girl and wakes up, changing the boy into a mechanical version.
Blinded by the sunlight, the girl doesn't notice the boy and passes him. She notices a beautiful flower and picks it up, but the moment she touches it, it changes into a dead, mechanical flower and the girl turns sad.
And so the cycle continues.
Now my project involves creating the characters, as well as the mechanical and organic world they live in.
In association with the director, being my teacher, I hope to bring this to a good end and update this blog as much as I can.
